Information for parents about referrals

Unfortunately we are unable to accept referrals direct from parents.

  • If your child has an EHCP and you feel that Malden Oaks would be a suitable placement, please speak to your AfC SEN caseworker in the first instance.
  • If your child is new to the area/does not have a school place, and needs an alternative to a mainstream school, please speak to the AFC admissions team.
  • If your child is unable to attend school due to a medical condition, speak to your school’s SENCo and they will be able to advise whether your child meets the criteria for alternative (Medical/other) provision.
  • If your child currently attends a mainstream school and is struggling within that environment, we would suggest that you discuss this with relevant school staff – this may be the Head of Year, SENCo or Pastoral Lead. If the school agrees that a referral to us would be beneficial, and in your child’s best interests, then they will be able to contact us or, alternatively, it may be felt that a referral to our MOOT programme would be a better route at this stage.

We work very closely with all the schools within the borough and therefore we are confident that they will be able to make an informed judgement, as they have the benefit of the knowledge of both what we can offer and your child’s needs.
