Pastoral & Therapies

KS4 students have a tutor and a Head of Year  who oversee  all aspects of their education and personal development  during their time at Malden Oaks. The tutor monitors attendance, engagement and is the first point of contact for both the student and parents/carers. Students attend a daily tutor period during which they will take part in activities with other members of their tutor group and their tutor. They  also receive tailored one to one support from their tutor through our mentoring programme.

There is a  regular cycle of reviews throughout the academic year that give students,  parents/carers and, for dual registered students a representative from their mainstream school, the opportunity to discuss the student’s  progress and to set targets.

We are accustomed to working with other professionals and as well as our taught courses, students will have access to other provisions and support as required. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Speech and Language support

  • Access arrangements assessments

  • School nurse

  • Careers advice

  • Educational psychology advice

  • Schools police team

  • Substance misuse service

The Head of School and Heads of Year work closely with AFC Children's Services to enable us to fully support the needs of each student.
