Full-time GCSE Humanities teacher

MPS/UPS + SEN 1

Start date: 1st September 2022

Would you like more time to build relationships with your students, have smaller teaching groups (a maximum of six students) but still be able to teach students with the potential to achieve high grades at GCSE? Due to internal promotion, we have a vacancy for an experienced and enthusiastic humanities teacher.

We can offer you the opportunity to focus on a small number of students and transform their experience of education.  We understand that there may be some apprehension about teaching in an alternative provision and we would encourage you to watch our video (home page) as this will give you an insight into our students, their views, and the difference you could make to them.  You would also be supported by a formal induction process and training opportunities.

This post will be based at our KS4 site in Ham, primarily teaching GCSE History, Geography and Sociology. However, all our staff work in a flexible way and so there may be the potential to also teach A levels within our newly created post 16 centre and/or to support the teaching of humanities across other parts of our provision such as our KS3 site in Surbiton and our Tuition Service.

Despite our small size we are committed to offering a broad and balanced curriculum which currently includes 16 GCSE subjects to allow students a huge choice and develop their interests. As well as engaging in the formal taught curriculum, students are encouraged to develop in other areas with an extensive and inspiring outdoor activity programme. Supporting our students in developing positive relationships, self-confidence, resilience, and creativity is crucial to our ethos and is not measured solely by our academic results but by the views of our past and present students.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. All new staff will be required to undertake a DBS check and carry out safeguarding training.

Visits to the school are welcome and should you have any queries please contact mosadmin@maldenoaks.rbksch.org.

Your application should summarise how you meet the requirements of the attached person specification and how your skills and experience would enable you to fulfil the attached job description (documents below).

Please submit your application and equal opportunity form to: stld@maldenoaks.rbksch.org

Closing Date: 9am Thursday 19th May

Interviews:   Week commencing Monday 23rd May
