National Careers Week (2nd March to 6 March)

Malden Oaks Celebrated National Careers Week in a number of ways this year.

Kingston

Staff completed vocational profiles for students to guess. Students enjoyed a creative workshop on gold leafing, where we learned how to carefully apply delicate sheets of gold to create beautiful designs. It was a fun and relaxing activity, and everyone was proud of their finished pieces. Students also enjoyed learning about possible careers linked to these creative workshops and hearing about the different pathways into these industries.

Surbiton

Students went to London Zoo and did careers-related work to do with the visit.  All students took a Unifrog interests quiz and looked up 2 careers related to their interests. Staff shared career interests, which students had to guess who wrote. We added to our display.

6Oaks

Staff displayed information about their own career paths and useful skills developed along the way - always a great conversation starter! Students were signposted to the virtual careers fair and to our corridor display listing careers commonly associated with different subject areas. The latter were explored in lessons with subject specialists throughout the week. Students participated in a range of activities in PSHE lessons and tutor time to stimulate discussion and practise talking confidently about their skills, personal attributes and career aspirations.
