Malden Oaks Exam Results Day 2025

A record 103 students were entered for public examinations this summer at Malden Oaks.

The outcomes are outstanding and represent a huge effort by students and staff. Many of our students have had very negative experiences in previous educational settings, and so there is all the more reason to celebrate their exceptional results. They have overcome anxiety, shown high levels of resilience and, in many cases, covered a 2-year course in a much shorter amount of time. Their results are proof of our strongly held belief that it is absolutely never too late to catch up and achieve.

Particular highlights include:

  • GCSE Grade 9s in English Literature, English Language, French and Hospitality & Catering

  • GCSE Grade 8s in English Language, Sociology, Biology, Child Development

  • Students from three different provisions studied GCSE computer science together in one class, and all gained a grade 7

  • Our first 6 Oaks students are moving on to university after achieving the A-Levels they needed

  • 219 GCSE grades achieved with 88 of those at grade 4 or above

  • GCSE Grades in 24 different subjects, a unique offer for an Alternative/Special school

  • Continued exceptional performance compared to national alternative provision and special SEMH schools.

Malden Oaks celebrated its first-ever university entrants when A-level results were announced last week. 6 Oaks was set up 3 years ago as a unique type of sixth form. It is for students aged 16 to 19 who are on an academic pathway, but who need a smaller environment, staffed by teachers who are specialists in emotional health. The provision is in huge demand, with numbers rising from 8 to 80 in just three years.

The first three students have passed their A-Levels and will go to university in September. Phoebe, pictured centre above, was delighted to pass A Levels in Drama, English Literature and Sociology to enable her to attend Chichester University to study Medieval and Early Modern History. She said, “I could not have done it without Malden Oaks.”

Betty, who attends Malden Oaks, is delighted with her results. She achieved GCSE grade 9s in English Literature, English Language; grade 8s in Biology, Sociology; grade 6s in Maths, Drama and grade 5 in Chemistry.

Betty said: “I’m so glad all my hard work paid off. Malden Oaks is a really supportive school and helped me so much. I’m going to Esher College to do English literature, film and philosophy.”

Headteacher, Samantha Axbey, said, "These students’ wonderful achievements are clear evidence that we should not put a limit on what individual young people can achieve. With the right support and a tailored curriculum, all students can experience success."
